Tonight I would like to tell you about the hormone shot. So much of this began with something crazy or out of line, and from there it deteriorated. So it was with the shot.
While undergoing the exam, I was given a shot. It was mostly vitamins for dogs, but also a shot of bitch hormones included. Sometimes we get an order for a puppy and the ideal female is not in cycle. So we give her a shot to bring her into estruus and get her "in the mood". I think Dr Maya was seeing if it would dispose me to mating. There may have been some effect, but it was a bust, as far as I was concerned, and Doc also decided to give up on that idea.
Then we got busy. A lot of activity at the clinic and an expansion of the down town distripution business. The other vet tech took off on a short vacation. She is the one who travels around a couple counties here and visits large farms and ranches, delivering orders, administering meds and supplements, and teaching.
For my part, I had sort of been started and left running. So I expiremented. I was thinking the secretions themselves caused many of the traits of "heat". I scraped together a small collection, took a deep breath and downed some. Then I made it to the bathroom and puked. Well, that's not going to work. Next I tried to fill some capsules but they melted and became too soft to handle. I was on the Farm route at the time, so I took a cow bolus, filled it and gagging my self with the bolling gun, got it down into my stomach. I washed that with a Coke. The next day, I came into work, I knew I smelled. Amy picked it up at once. Well, she said, Someone is going to be a big hit cleaning kennels today, and she made me tell her what I did. She laffed, but also said it was a good idea and I was certainly giving aff a scent. Then she asked how I felt inside. As an answer I asked her to give me something to calm that part as I had a deep, unscratchable itch. She said she could do that, but she wouldn't. There was a natural way to help that and she would help me take care of it that way. No, I said, I don't think so.
So I began my chores. I created a tumult while cleaning the kennels. At first it was embarassing, but pretty soon, I was actually flaunting it. Whatever the active ingredient of the scent was, it was now spread thruout my system, giving me my own experience of bitch heat. When I finished, I again asked Amy for something to knock it out. She countered that I had started on this road and maybe I should just see it thru. Sometimes I was hopping on my toes, and was beginning to look longingly at the mop handle.
Amy did a quick exam to note the swelling and my serum production, then handed me the collar again and said, Strip and get into your doggy suit, if you want me to help. I couldn't stand it. I thot it would fade, but it was becoming stronger by the minute. I did as I was told and was soon tethered and a dog was led in.
